So my vacation ended a week earlier than expected, but it was nice to get to see most everyone and the kids surprised me by being amazingly well behaved in the car for what felt like a million hours (it was actually closer to eight).
I am jumping into edits on the third of Finn and Oliver’s story I already wrote to refresh my memory. I wrote most of the psions series back in the fall so some things have changed in the overarching narrative since I wrote the existing chapters of Fire, so I expect major changes, but I am excited about these two.
I am hoping for a summer release date, but I have other life issues to deal with too, so it might take longer. But the good news is that my writing has been getting cleaner the more I write so I don’t think the edits will be as intense on the newer parts that are as yet unwritten for Finn and Olliver.
And speaking of Quick Fire, I have the mock ups for the cover just about ready to review and I think it is looking great. I am experimenting with more special effects so we’ll see if those work out or if I stick with the less is more approach from Spark and Sense and leave the posing to convey the paranormal aspects of the book.
It is fun to see how much my photo shop skills have improved since my first awful attempts at a cover. I’ve been learning a ton about gimp and how to use its features as well as composition, typography, and lighting among other things. I think the practice is paying off, and I hope it shows in the covers for the rest of the series.
As to the rest of the series, I’ve talked about Fire here a good amount. But there is at least one more book planned for after them. Stay tuned to hear who book four will feature!
