Here is is, the cover for Quick Fire! So the book is all dressed, now I just need to get back to writing it.
I am getting excited to get back to these two characters. I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this in a previous post, but it strikes me funny to go back and edit the parts I wrote in the fall because I feel like my writing has become much cleaner after going through edits and rewrites with Spark and Sense.
Even so, the voices of these two characters are clear for me and I enjoy working with them. Finn is their own harshest critic. Between an acute awareness of the capacity for harm with their pyrokinesis and being Tim’s guardian, they feel a huge burden of responsibility for everyone around them, even though their friends all see them as the baby of the group. It’s a huge shift in perspective so I hope I do Finn justice in conveying that.
And then there is Oliver. He’s complex. A little jaded from some of his experiences, but still clinging to a basic belief in the goodness of most people. Oliver is an optimist at heart, but he has learned to be suspicious too. And he stands by his convictions with a stubborn streak a mile wide, which might cause him some problems.
Their story will be available in Quick Fire, which I am hoping to have out this summer.
The other project I’ve been working on is a new tabletop RPG/contemporary romance series. I worked on the first few chapters of that while I was away visiting family, but ultimately I would like to get most of the Psions of SPIRE series out before going too much further with Theo and the gang. Meaning book three, Quick Fire, will be my main focus for now.
So, without further ado, here is the cover for Quick Fire.
