First, since it is now June, Happy Pride!

Second, a quick update on Quick Fire. It is still coming along. It’s proving to be a harder book to write. Not the main plot, that flows from Sense just fine. But I am committed to capturing Finn and Oliver’s relationship and I want to do them justice.

As a trans guy, Oliver is a huge piece of me and putting him on the page with all his vulnerabilities is hard. It’s a work in progress, and I’m feeling him out, because his experience differs from mine even though we share similarities.

All that to say I’ve gone through a few drafts of some key scenes where I’ve had to work to capture his voice and experience because it’s similar to mine but different in some vital ways. But I think I’ve finally nailed down the big key scenes in their relationship arc and it’s true to both Finn and Oliver and who they are together.

I’m excited to share them with the world, but I want to work hard to make sure the rep I’m putting out there does them both justice.

On that note, I find it helps to break up the editing with some writing so as a result I’m going to have some Novellas coming out in the next few months.

First up, I wrote just shy of 15k words to give Marc a happy ending. That story, Weak Link, takes place after Quick Fire so it will probably release around the time Fire comes out. Marc showed up in Bright Spark as a camper Aaron and Albert mentored the summer after they graduated from Riverton Academy.

Marc had some problems with an anchor and I thought it would be interesting to show how that episode affected him later down the line. I also thought showing more interactions with the registry, and the impact it can have on anchors might be enjoyable.

Weak Link also shows a different perspective on how psions approach sex in light of their auras and touch compatibility. I had fun writing it, so I hope you enjoy it.

I’ve also got a tentative outline for a group of shorts about the main series characters set between Sense and Fire. Some time has passed between these two novels so I thought it might be good to get a glimpse of that time from each main character’s perspective. Nothing set in stone on this one.

Details on that will be forthcoming, but since it takes place before Fire I hope to have it out soon. Stay tuned for more and for release dates on Quick Fire and Weak Link.
