Now that Quick Fire is out I have my focus turned to writing Clear Sight, which I am thinking is probably the last full length novel in the series, at least for this plot arc.
Clear Sight’s leads, Seth and Roy, are a change of pace after Finn and Oliver’s story. Finn and Oliver are both young and have an inherent sweetness to them. Even though they do have their dark moments, I think they are both optimists at heart.
Roy is a bit more jaded. And Seth is a juxtaposition of sheltered naivete and secondhand experiences courtesy of his abilities that leaves him wary of people. So it’s a bit of mental shift to go between these two pairs.
I am also still working on my Dungeons and Dragons…And Dragons project when Seth and Roy are uncooperative and I need a change of pace. Theo is the narrator for that one and he is a treat to write. I am thinking his book will be more of a slow burn (at least compared to the Psions series) so that will be different too.
I’m kicking around short story ideas too since I think there will be at least one if not two more of those in the SPIRE-verse. They are still in the early planning stages so I haven’t really pinned down who the main characters will be.
I might do a primary link pair who aren’t in a romantic/sexual relationship for one of them, since that’s a theme that has come up throughout the series, and particularly with Finn and Oliver’s story, but that isn’t 100% yet.
There will be a box set or box sets coming. I’ll have to look at the word counts when all is said and done. One of the shorts I’ve been toying with is an expansion on Bold Move so if that works out I am thinking I will bundle Shelter, Bright Spark, Bold Move part 1, Keen Sense and Bold Move part 2 as a set and then Weak Link, Quick Fire, Clear Sight and likely one or two additional shorts/novellas as a second bundle when they are all released.
In case you’re reading this and you’ve missed out on Bold Move, it’s the story of Aaron getting to know Caleb and Elliott and how they and Jake navigate the new relationship dynamics that Aaron’s return to Seattle brings about. It’s available when you sign up for my newsletter.
When I release the bundle with Bold Move, I will be changing the free newsletter short, either to another newsletter exclusive Psions short story or possibly to something featuring Theo and his world, so stay tuned for that. Existing newsletter subscribers will also receive the new short story when that is released.
I think that’s all for book news from me, cheers!
