I’m a day late on this, but it was my birthday yesterday as well as release day, so we had a nice low key family day with lots of cooking and baking. And delicious cake.
Hawk Lake is Dan and Chad’s second adventure and the ghosts got even deadlier. This book has the guys figuring out their new dynamic as partners instead of PA and boss. On the personal front, Chad has some insecurities to work through and Dan has to adjust to no longer calling all the shots. And Chad meets his first IRL fan of the show.
The latest haunting is more recent than Dan’s usual haunted sites. And there is more to the haunting than first meets the eye. Hawk Lake takes place in the part of Maine where I grew up, in a series of fictional locations. so the community they are visiting is very much based on that small town life.
I had fun looking at the area through the guy’s eyes. The bridge they cross in the first paragraph has been the starting point for many a road-trip adventure with friends and family in my life and the welcome home at the end (even though it was a solid 5+hours of driving from my home for most of my years living in Maine).
I hope you enjoy Dan and Chad’s visit to Maine as much as I enjoyed writing it. If you enjoy it, please consider leaving a quick review to help other readers find it too! And stay tuned for information on Hauntastic Haunts book three, coming soon!
